A straightforward enquiry for your SEAT

The reason for selling may be simple: you have bought another car and need the space. Or you may be weighing up a repair estimate after a breakdown. Either way, the assessment should start with the condition of this vehicle rather than a general price attached to the badge.

Send the registration and collection postcode through our SEAT quote enquiry. Tell us what works, what does not and whether any fault has been diagnosed. If it still drives normally, say so. You do not need to describe a usable car as scrap to make an enquiry.

Ibiza, Mii and smaller cars

For an Ibiza or Mii, the decision may be about an MOT repair list, an engine problem or a car that has stood unused. Give the year, mileage and power system where known. Do not assume a small car has negligible value or that an expired test decides the whole outcome.

Compare the complete work needed with what you want from the car. One manageable repair can be worthwhile; several unresolved problems may make selling as it stands more attractive. Include faults that are not recorded on an MOT result.

Leon, Toledo and Altea

The model name does not describe every version. Tell us the body style, engine and transmission you can confirm. For a Leon estate or family vehicle, include the condition of the load area and whether original equipment remains.

For an Altea or a car used for family trips, check every storage space before collection. Personal belongings can remain beneath seats or under the boot floor long after the obvious items have been cleared. Tell us if seating or other parts have already been removed.

If the vehicle is at a workshop, confirm its present state. Photographs from before a repair began may not show what is now available to collect. List dismantled parts and explain whether they are included in the sale.

Arona, Ateca and Tarraco

For a crossover or SUV, describe the parking position as carefully as the mechanical fault. A narrow gate, steep drive, restricted courtyard or low barrier may change how collection can be arranged. Include drivetrain information if you know it; do not guess from the shape or badge.

If your SEAT is electric or hybrid, identify the exact version and tell us about charging, battery or collision concerns. Suitability and handling must be assessed before a collection is agreed. Do not remove high-voltage components or assume an ordinary towing method is suitable.

Modified cars need an accurate description

If your SEAT has been modified, explain what changed. Lowered suspension, different wheels, body alterations or mechanical changes can affect assessment and loading. Photographs help, but they should be accompanied by a clear description rather than expecting the person quoting to identify every modification.

Tell us which parts will stay with the car. If original components are included separately, list them. If you intend to remove accessories, agree that before accepting an offer. A vehicle should be quoted in the condition in which it will be handed over.

A modified or performance version is not automatically worth more or less than another car. Condition, completeness and the practical route still need consideration. Avoid using an enthusiast advert for a tidy working example as a direct valuation of a non-runner.

Understand the fault before deciding on more spending

A dashboard message or fault code can be useful, but it is not always a complete diagnosis. Share the workshop’s findings if available. Otherwise describe the symptoms: it will not start, loses drive, will not select a gear or runs differently under particular conditions.

Ask what a repair estimate covers and what remains uncertain. Consider other work already due and whether you still want the car once repaired. If the sole aim is to make it easier to sell, compare an as-is offer before paying for further work.

There may be a salvage route where repair or parts use is practical. Complete recycling is a different assessment for a vehicle at the end of useful life. Our salvage guide explains the distinction without requiring you to choose a label before enquiring.

What helps determine a SEAT quote?

  • Registration, mileage and known specification.
  • Current faults, damage and any professional diagnosis.
  • Missing or removed parts, including items held by a garage.
  • Whether it starts, moves, rolls and steers.
  • Keys, actual postcode and access restrictions.

Material values and completeness matter when recycling. For repairable cars, the condition and likely work also affect the assessment. There is no reliable flat figure for every Ibiza or Leon. Our value guide explains the factors behind an individual offer.

Update the enquiry if the car changes after quoting. A new location, removed component or newly identified fault should be discussed before the appointment, so the collection is planned around accurate information.

Plan for loading without forcing controls

Tell us about flat tyres, seized brakes, locked steering or an automatic selector stuck in park. A non-runner that rolls freely and a car with immovable wheels are different loading jobs.

SEAT’s official owner resources provide handbook and warning-light information. Follow guidance matched to the actual model and leave unfamiliar recovery procedures to competent professionals. Do not force a release mechanism or improvise a tow.

For a garage or workplace collection, arrange release with the person holding the keys and controlling access. Confirm whether the vehicle is assembled and ready to leave. Wait for booking confirmation before coordinating time away from work or another person to meet the driver.

Handover and paperwork

Prepare the V5C and keys where available. Explain missing documents or a sale on someone else’s behalf early so the relevant checks can be discussed. Clear your belongings and personal information from accessible systems using the manufacturer guidance.

Retain the collection record and ensure DVLA is notified. The official notification guide explains the route, including a sale without a V5C. Deal with a private registration you want to keep before disposal.

SEAT questions

Can you assess a lowered Leon?

Send photographs and explain the clearance and modifications. Loading suitability needs checking before a collection is confirmed.

What if the car starts but cannot select a gear?

Describe that precisely and include any diagnosis. We also need to know whether the wheels roll and the steering turns for loading.

Does accident damage mean complete scrapping?

Not automatically. The nature of the damage, completeness and possible repair route need assessment. Tell us if an insurer is involved before agreeing a sale.
