Honda CR-V Scrap Car Collection in Portsmouth
We collected this Honda CR-V as a scrap car in Portsmouth. If you are arranging a collection of your own, knowing who will meet the team and what they need can make the handover easier to organise.

A Honda CR-V collected in Portsmouth
ScrapTrak collected this Honda CR-V as a scrap car in Portsmouth. The photograph shows the red-burgundy Honda with its front wheels supported by recovery lifting equipment.
If you are organising a collection of your own, our Portsmouth scrap car collection page explains the local service. Our Scrap My Honda guide covers enquiries for a CR-V and other Honda models. Alongside the vehicle details, it helps to plan who will meet the collection team and how the handover will work.
Decide who will handle the collection
Start with the person arranging the sale and the person who will be available where the car is parked. They may be the same person, but a change of plans can leave someone else answering questions without the necessary information.
If you cannot attend, contact us before assuming that a friend, relative or workshop can hand over the vehicle. Explain the proposed arrangement and ask what information and evidence are needed. Having the keys or being able to open a gate does not, by itself, resolve permission to sell.
Agree a contact who can answer questions on the day, and make sure their telephone details are correct. If more than one person is involved, clarify who can confirm the agreed vehicle details and who is simply providing access. Avoid leaving those decisions to someone who has not seen the arrangement.
Share a short, accurate handover note
A brief note is easier to use than a long chain of messages. For your own car, bring the important information together:
- The registration and the agreed collection address.
- The contact details for the person arranging the sale and the person meeting the team.
- Where the car and its available keys can be found.
- Any known condition or movement restrictions already discussed.
- Which documents are available and any questions still to be resolved.
Keep this information within the people involved in the collection. There is no need to post identification, a log book or personal contact details publicly. If a document is requested, confirm how it should be provided.
Locate the keys before the appointment
Find the available keys early enough to raise a problem if they are missing. If there are several similar sets, identify the correct one. Tell the team if a key does not operate a lock or if you cannot get into part of the car, rather than expecting the person at handover to discover it.
Remove belongings while you still have access. Check the cabin and luggage area for personal paperwork, permits, children’s items and equipment you want to keep. If someone else is helping, give them clear instructions about personal possessions; do not assume they will recognise what matters to you.
Put any keys or vehicle documents intended for the handover somewhere agreed and secure. Avoid leaving them unattended in the car or in an obvious outdoor hiding place.
Agree access with the person responsible for the site
If the Honda is at a garage, shared car park or another person’s property, confirm how the collection team will reach it. The person arranging the sale may not control a gate, barrier or workshop opening time.
Check who can provide access and whether another vehicle needs moving first. Pass on any agreed restrictions or site instructions before collection. If the car’s location changes, update the arrangements so the team and the person attending are working from the same details.
Recovery planning belongs with the collection team. Describe what you know about the vehicle and its position; there is no need to decide how it should be lifted or transported.
Keep the confirmation after handover
Retain the agreed terms and a record of who received the car. If someone else meets the team under an agreed arrangement, make sure the collection information reaches the person responsible for the sale. Do not rely on a brief message that only says “gone”.
You must tell DVLA when you sell or transfer your vehicle. The official DVLA guidance explains how to notify it, including the written route when the V5C log book is missing. Keep that confirmation with the handover records.
